As Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Qualis Health, Marci Weis, RN, MPH, CCM, CPUM oversees the organization’s operational and customer relations activities for all product and service lines, including healthcare quality improvement and evaluation, care management, business process improvement, and health services research. With nearly 20 years of healthcare experience, Ms. Weis has overseen a period of tremendous growth for Qualis Health, including the development and deployment of new products to leverage the organization’s expertise in improving the quality of healthcare delivery and health outcomes. Ms. Weis joined Qualis Health in 1994. Prior to her appointment as Chief Operating Officer, she served as Vice President of Care Management. Her responsibilities in that capacity included the implementation, oversight, and growth of comprehensive Medicaid, workers compensation and commercial care management programs in Washington, Alaska, Idaho, South Carolina, and Nebraska. Under Ms. Weis’ guidance, the organization experienced a 60% growth in annual care management revenue.
During her tenure, Ms. Weis has directed successful efforts for continued full accreditation by URAC for the organization’s health utilization management, independent review, and case management services demonstrating nationally recognized best practices. Through her leadership, the entire organization adopted Lean process improvement methodologies, resulting in increased staff productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness, as well as improved customer and staff satisfaction. Ms. Weis also implemented a cutting-edge care management software system known as MEDecision to better serve Qualis Health customers.
In addition to frequent speaking engagements at national healthcare conferences, Ms. Weis co-authored Fundamentals of Case Management, a reference book widely used throughout the care management industry. She holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan. Ms. Weis is certified as a case manager by the Commission for Case Manager Certification, and is also a Certified Professional in Utilization Management. She serves on the URAC Standards Committee, the National Transitions of Care Coalition’s Performance and Metrics Workgroup, and is a Baldrige examiner for the state of Washington.
